About Us

The Richard Tildesley Practice is a friendly, fully independent Ophthalmic practice that was established in Chichester in 1965.  What makes us special is that we believe that you can receive an excellent level of personal service and care from the minute you step through the door, and still enjoy competitive pricing.

Sight tests and contact lens fittings are carried out by our highly experienced Ophthalmic Opticians who are more than happy to see patients with complex or difficult prescriptions.

We welcome both private and NHS patients.

NEWS: Due to expansion, The Richard Tildesley Practice Chichester is pleased to announce that we are moving to our new premises at 51 West Street Chichester PO19 1RP on 3rd April and re-opening 5th April.  All contact details remain unchanged.  This move will allow us to provide more sight test appointments, and a larger range of frames.  We look forward to seeing you there!

Frame Fitting

We stock a stylish collection of traditional, contemporary and designer frames and high-quality lenses from a range of suppliers to suit all budgets.

We can also consider fitting lenses to your own frame, subject to age and condition of the frame.  We have a separate dispensing room so that you can take your time choosing frames, expertly guided by our fully qualified dispensing opticians to ensure that you are delighted with your new glasses.

We have an established professional reputation, built over five decades, with strong links with local NHS and private Ophthalmic consultants.
We have been nominated for Macular Degeneration Optician of the year 2 years running (2014/2015).

For 2017 we have invested in an OCT for our practice. This enables us to scan your retina and detect any early signs of conditions like macular degeneration, macular holes and AMD. It can also help us monitor problems due to high blood pressure, diabetes, glaucoma, corneal abnormalities and even floaters. The benefit of having an OCT scan means that any problems we may detect can be treated quickly and therefore there is less chance of your eyesight being permanently affected.
