Alan -Practice Manager, Registered Dispensing Optician & SMC (Tech)

With over 20 years in optics, Alan brings a wealth of hands-on experience and technical mastery to The Richard Tildesley Practice. Starting in optical laboratories—glazing lenses, crafting bespoke eyewear, and mastering the fine mechanical details of frame fitting— Alan combines registered dispensing expertise with SMC(Tech) qualifications.

As our Practice Manager, Alan leads our team with a patient-first ethos and a meticulous eye for detail. Whether finding the ideal lens solution for a complex prescription, making micro-adjustments for effortless all-day comfort, or troubleshooting tricky optical issues that others couldn’t resolve, Alan takes genuine pride in ensuring every patient leaves seeing clearly and feeling fantastic in their glasses.

Carly -Optical Advisor & Styling Specialist

With over two and a half decades in the optical industry, Carly combines deep practical knowledge with an instinctive eye for eyewear styling. She takes great pleasure in making frame selection an enjoyable, unhurried experience—listening to what you love and guiding you toward designs that bring out your confidence. Away from the practice, Carly loves quality time with her family, especially spending weekends outdoors cheering on her daughter at horse events.”

Chelsea -Optical Advisor

Chelsea combines five years of dedicated optical assistant experience with specialised training in frame styling and lens technology. She loves guiding patients through our curated eyewear collections, ensuring that every frame chosen not only looks fantastic but is matched with the ideal lens solution for clarity and daily comfort. When she isn’t in practice, Chelsea can usually be found at the stables riding her horses or lending a hand at home looking after her family’s busy collection of animals.

Huijun -Optometrist

Since graduating in Optometry from the University of Manchester more than eight years ago, Jun has built a comprehensive clinical foundation through years of community-based and domiciliary care. Her patient-first philosophy means every eye examination is unhurried, reassuring, and tailored with precision. Clinically, Jun holds a special interest in children’s vision
(paediatric eyecare) as well as medical retina and advanced retinal diagnostics. Away from the practice, she enjoys staying active outdoors, with a passion for traveling and hiking in nature.

Helen Helyer – Optometrist

Helen graduated from Cardiff university and then completed her professional qualifying exams in 1995 having worked at Cheltenham General Hospital.

She then moved down to West Sussex and has worked in independent practice since. She has also spent time working in eye clinics overseas in Tanzania, Papua New Guinea, Uganda and Tibet.

As an optometrist, Helen enjoys the wide range of optometric practice including contact lenses, low vision clinics and paediatric optometry. Her ultimate aim is to provide a welcoming and comfortable environment, to offer a thorough and comprehensive eye examination and to give patients a better understanding of their own eye health and how we can best meet their needs.

Outside of work, as a mother and wife of a local farmer she has plenty to keep her busy!

Cazal

When passion for a product is reflected in the design, there is no-one like Cari Zalloni, whose eyewear designs became a cult in the 80s. He was a visionary who revolutionised eyewear design and created trends that were way ahead of their time, second to none. He crafted an extraordinary style that polarised opinions and has cast a spell over his fans to this day.

CAZAL defined the typical hip-hop look of the 80s like no other brand. Some of the legendary designs from that era are still trendsetting even now. Eyewear lovingly nicknamed “Cazzy” by its fans.

The creative genius of the charismatic designer Cari Zalloni carries on, even after his sudden death in 2012. Inspired by him, his design team will continue to create a collection that sets standards and immortalises his spirit.
