Mr Richard Tildesley
Originally from the East End of London, Richard graduated from Aston University in 1972, qualified in 1973 and registered in 1974. He joined Leonard Parritt at the Practice in 1975 and became sole proprietor in 1980. Leonard put the patient at the heart of the practice, a tradition Richard has maintained. We always go the extra mile to give the best possible service.
Richard has always been fascinated by vision and sight and has tried to keep up to date with the rapid advances in knowledge and ideas that have occurred over the years. General Optometry has always interested Richard, but he has developed special interests in paediatric optometry, contact lenses and low visual aids.
In 2006 Richard became a consultant to the Practice, allowing him time to develop outside interests such as golf, music and Portuguese, whilst also continuing professional education.
Fiona qualified from The City University, London, and took her professional examination in 1984 and went on to pass her Diploma in Contact Lens Practice in 1986.
She has always worked in independent practice and has a special interest in contact lens fitting and supporting children with eye conditions that lead to learning difficulties such as binocular instability and visual stress.
Outside of work, Fiona volunteered at a charity run eye camp in Uganda in January 2017. The aim was to see people in rural areas with no access to eye care but only basic health care provision. She has also just completed a cycle ride from Land’s End to John O’Groats to raise money for the charity.
At the Richard Tildesley Practice, dispensing is only ever carried out by fully qualified, registered dispensing opticians, as we believe this is the only way to provide the best level of customer care.
Paul, the practice owner, qualified from City and East London college and has over 30 years experience. He has worked in private practice in management and locum roles, and in the adult and children’s hospital eye service.
Paul’s attention to your personal requirements ensures that you receive the very best frame and lenses, to suit your lifestyle, budget and that make you feel comfortable and look fabulous.
Kirsty originally joined us as a receptionist in 2012, and soon discovered a passion for dispensing. The Richard Tildesley Practice believes in investing in people, and were delighted to support Kirsty through 3 years of training to recently become a registered dispensing optician. She has already shown great empathy for patient needs and a skill in stylish dispensing.
Abi Grute has worked in Optics for over 30 years as a Dispensing Optician and Optometrist. With a keen interest in the training and development of people entering the Optical profession, she has written articles, taught students and given lectures both nationally and internationally on behalf of the Association of British Dispensing Opticians and the Worshipful Company of Spectacle Makers.
A former member of the General Optical Council Fitness to Practise Panel she continues to examine students on behalf of the ABDO.
Particular area of Optometric interest are the management of binocular vison in adults and the vision in the elderly including visual impairment.
