Your Health and the Health of your Eyes is our Absolute Priority

The Richard Tildesley Practice Opticians is open throughout lockdown for urgent and essential eye care and will continue to be so.

We will be helping as many people as possible remotely, using a video or telephone triage appointment and we may advise that you make an appointment to see us in a few weeks when the situation is safer.  If you need to come in to see us for a face to face appointment we are here for you, but please don’t come to the practice before contacting us to make an appointment.

Unfortunately, due to Government advice, we are unable to provide routine sight tests right now.  However, if you need replacement contact lenses or glasses in order to carry out day to day tasks, we can help you.  Contact lenses and glasses can be posted or safely delivered to your door. If it is absolutely essential that you have a sight test, we can provide that too.  If you normally have your sight tests paid for by the NHS, there will be no charge for this.

We can repair or replace broken frames and lenses

If you have a medical concern  – for example flashing lights, complete or partial loss of vision, a significant change in vision,  a sudden appearance of ‘floaters’ etc we may suggest that you come into the practice to have a face to face examination.  We may also suggest an OCT retinal scan.  Unfortunately NHS England are not funding these emergency eye care appointments so we will need to charge £35-£70 for this appointment, depending on whether you are already a patient with us, and we therefore have your eye health history, and if we recommend that you have an OCT scan.  For more information about our OCT retinal scanning, please click on the link https://www.richardtildesleyopticians.co.uk/oct-imaging-lva-assessments/

Paul Stickland, our Dispensing Optician, and practice owner and Fiona Broome, our Optometrist are at the practice most days.  However, if the practice is unattended, you can contact us by phone or email and leave a short message with your name and telephone number and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
